Meet the E-Board: Secretary

Hello, I am Jacky, I am a Junior majoring in Mechanical Engineering. This is my E-Board Q&A Introduction!

-What made you pursue this position?

I wanted to actively participate as a rower in the club and as a E-Board member. I have experience with website designs, and I check my emails very frequently, so it made sense that I run for the Secretary position!

-When did you start rowing? What was the reason?

I started rowing with UB Crew my sophomore year! I was visiting a friend during winter break of freshman year, and we saw "The Boys in the Boat" after another friend recommended it to us. After coming back in the fall of sophomore year, I joined the club.

-What is your fondest rowing memory?

My fondest memory with the club is getting into a pair for the first time after being in eights for so long. My most recent fondest memory is in NYC where I rowed with a local club for the summer to train, and we rigged and took out an octuple!

-Finally, what is your plan to improve the club?

My plan to improve the club is to establish better communication between the club and our members, as well as UB faculty (specifically SA). Be establishing a better line of communication, I hope that we can grow the club and make sure we're known!

I am glad to have the privilege of being your secretary for the upcoming academic year. I hope that I can communicate our needs to better serve the club and introduce this wonderful sport to others. I hope to meet you all soon and see you out on the waters!
