Spotlight on UB Rowing Alumna Sarah McCann

Sarah McCann

Walk on

Favorite memories: So many memories of goofing off between races, on the team bus (like hiding with Rejina in the overhead compartment!), and over spring training; the ridiculous nicknames we gave each other; wearing trash bags for our race at Bucknell; Head of the Charles; training with Ed (the 12x12!); following the blog “Fight in the Dog” as a team; and “don’t feed the lightweights!”

Rowing accomplishment: Dad Vails team championship junior and senior years

Psychology major, Global Gender Studies minor

Occupation: Clinical Supervisor at a treatment program for women with substance use disorder

Advice to current rowers: Try to appreciate every minute, it flies by way too fast! Have fun with your teammates, listen to your coaches, and get involved. Those friendships and lessons will stick with you long after you graduate.
